Posts required to enter a thread

I was wondering if there wa sa way to make guests/members required to have 5 posts before they can view a thread... like they can view the forum, and view the thread titles, but need 5 posts before they can get into the thread..

you can use default vB permission/promotions via usergroup settings.

I dont see how to do it, I can set it so they cant view the thread.. but I want it only until 5 posts, and I want it to show a message saying so

Have a read up about the vBulletin promotions system :) it's a default feature.

ive never used promotions... so I have no clue what im doing there :\
seems as if i'd need to create a new usergroup for them to be put into after 5 posts or something...

yup, that's it exactly.

ok, so i'd have to make it so all register users, after 5 posts they get put into another usergroup which has permission to view the threads...

but how do I give an error message saying that they need 5 posts before entering the thread?

well, they wouldn't have access to the thread, depending on how you set it up. if you just want to disable new posts, then that option will not appear. there are no messages needed.
