subscribe to forum mod?

Is there an existing mod to allow admin setup selected members to be automatically subscribed to a particular forum?

The idea behind this is to allow a particular forum to take the place of a majordomo list, so that members wishing nofication can be setup from the admin panel to be subscribed to that forum.

Seems like sombody has done that by now, but I can't find it.

user can subscribe to their whichever threads they have access to, why would a hack be needed?

You can't subscribe to a thread before it is created. Since the people joining their own group's forum would want to know everything that goes on, setting them up as being subscribed would take care of that.

why not just subscribe to the whole forum then... any new threads that are created and the users will get notified.
