intermittant error during registration process

Hello guys, I have a problem that has surfaced about a half a dozen times in the past few weeks. When users email me to describe the problem, their messages read something like this:

Quote:

I attempt to register but it will not complete registration and pops back up
with the password field blank. xxxxxxx for the screen name. But I have
not previously registered. Can you tell me what to do to get registered
Quote:

I put in my password and it doesn't accept it. It goes back to the page and password is blank.

Hi, I tried to register with a user name of "xxxxxxx", and then "xxxxxxxxxxx", but it would not confirm. It would only blink and stay on the registration page, with the passwords removed. Can you help me out? Thanks, Rob

I have tried to register several times and I keep getting the registration page back with the two password fields blank. What am i doing wrong? tried to register under the handle xxxxxxxxxxxxx
So what could be the cause of this? Running vb 3.6.2, vbadvanced cmps, and a few mods for 3.6.2. Where should i start looking, what other information should I post here?

Thanks!

Edit: I do get about 5-10 new signups daily, so I know this problem isnt occuring for everyone.

anyone point me in the right direction?

If you run cPanel, try looking in the error log for login.php.

Kall>> where do I find the error log for login.php?

Since my original post I've had about 100 successfull registrations, and about 3 or 4 more that have failed.

The latest tidbit of info:

Quote:

Unable to register. Keeps coming back to the same for without the password fields filled in, but no error message.

Where do I go from here?

... bump?

Hey Justin,

It's in your userCP if you use cPanel. If you use plesk or windows or something, it will be located somewhere...ask your host.

I use 1&1. I can't find what I'm looking for :(

Getting registration errors nearly every day :(

I'll pay a reputable programmer to find/fix this problem for me.
