To purge or not to purge?

delete inactive members?

That is my question ;)

Who purgers 0 post count users and if so how long to you wait to purge them?

What are the benefits of deleting them? My site is growing fast and I have much less worry about member count. But I also know that sometimes its taken 3 or more months for someone to actually post. I send out "come join us" emails every now and again and that helps A LOT!

Is there any harm in just leaving them.. Other then having a nagging ocd created by the obsessive need to keep things tidy lol.

Archiving and post pruning are on my list on find outs too!

What do you do?

Hi, I purged from 11,000 members to 4,580 and I'll be purging even more.

No need in appearing to have members who aren't really participating in the community.

cheers.

I don't purge any of my non posting user's, after all a user is a user and just need's a reason to remember to come back to your site.....

One thing you may concider doing, is mass emails........Kind of like a new's letter about the latest happening's on your site..

goto your admincp, users, then click "send email to users", and just type a brief message in there, toss in a couple link's to new something on your site....you will see your active user count go up a bit and eventually, they will be come active user's...

I've purged old, inactive accounts with no posts a few times. They couldn't complain either, because their accounts were deleted. ;)

I know this is an old thread but I use this to get around the email limits, it works great.
