Forum link

If I have a section, a linked section, I have this icon: http://www.web-city.it/forum/images/...forum_link.gif
I want it like a normal section, so with this icon: No post http://www.web-city.it/forum/images/.../forum_old.gif, New Post http://www.web-city.it/forum/images/.../forum_new.gif.
There is a method for do that?

Thanks in advance.

When using a forum link this isn't possible. Where is it linking to? If it is to another forum on your site which is not displayed on the forumhome then there could be a few tricks that can be applied

Yes, is an hide section in my forum. You can see: www.web-city.it. Go to [-Fantasy City-]. It's a hide category.

peterska2 10-30-2006 11:57 AM

ok, here is a nice little trick.

Firstly, copy the contents of your forumhome_level_2_post template and overwrite the contents of your forumhome_level2_nopost template with them.

Then set up a hidden forum as a subforum of the current forum link forum. Make a note of the forumid number as you will need this shortly.

Now move your existing forums to be subforums of this new hidden forum.

Then, in your forum manager, change the current forum which is a link to be not a link and a category. In the thread title, right at the very beginning, put
Code:

</a><a href="forumdisplay.php?f=x">
replacing x with the forumid number noted earlier.

Any problems give me a shout, but I've just tested it on 3.6.2 and it works perfectly here.

Really thanks for it, petreska2. I try..

EDIT:

Mhhh, I think I haven't understand it. Can you write me something like this:

1) - Replace forumhome_level2_nopost with forumhome_level_2_post - Go to your adminCp, then in templates edit -> etc etc etc..

2) Ad an hidden forum under "[-Fantasy City-]", like subforum. Remember to take note of its Id.

3) ...

4) ...

*My english is bad, so it's really difficult for me understand the right process*

Really really thanks in advance petreska2.

In your admincp go to the template forumhome_forumbit_level2_post and copy the contents.

Go to the template forumhome_forumbit_level2_nopost. Delete contents and paste the forumhome_forumbit_level2_post here.

Save the template.

Go to the forum manager.

Find your hidden forums. Set the category that these are in to have a parent forum of "[-Fantasy City-]"

Find the forumid of this forum. It is at the top in the edit screen.

Save this forum.

In the forum manager find the forum "[-Fantasy City-]"

Add the beginning of the forum name, add
Code:

</a><a href="forumdisplay.php?f=x">
and put the forumid of the other forum in place of the x

Remove the forum link.

Still in this screen, change "Act as Forum" to "No"

Save it.

Check it works, and if not let me know.

So I must set my hidden forum (that it's a category) like son of "[-Fantasy City-]"?

I must change the forumhome forum (section (with link, for now)) called [-Fantasy City-] setting it like a category? But if I do this, it's sure that later I have always a section (becouse I want a section, in forumhome)?

However, really thanks for your help. I need it really..

peterska2 10-30-2006 09:59 PM

Yes, that is correct.

It will show as a normal forum but will link to the other page instead of showing it all on the forumhome.

Give me 5 mins to tidy up a bit and I'll send you a demo link.

Mr Pink 10-30-2006 10:02 PM

Ok, now I try..

peterska2 10-30-2006 10:15 PM

I've sent you the link too so you can see how it will work
