user being banned...and i have no idea why..?
 

Hi All,

im fairly new to vb and i have a question,

In the admincp we haven't entered anything concerning the user banning options like ip's and emailadresses but a lot of our user are being banned...

in the banned users sections i see a list of banned users but they are banned by N/A, banned on is also N/A, ban period is permanent en ban time remaining is forever. Ban reason is blank...

Some users also recieve a message during registration that their email adress is banned, but like i said , we didnt alter the user ban options ( yet )

Are there some automatic bans in vb and if so , where are they stored,

If not , what could be causing this ???

This sounds more like someone has backdoor access to your server.

Look up the user N/A - first step. - If you find someone, delete that user.
Second step - Change all the moderator and admin passwords.
Third step - Check your config.php in your FTP to make sure no one else is listed as super administrator.

Other than that, can't really think of anything else to cover.

p.s. Oh yea, check the control panel log to see if there's any odd activity.

Also check to make sure you haven't changed any of the promotions in your Admin CP.

I know for my forum, I have set up that if the user gets a rep level below 0 they will lose access to certain forums. Check that as well. Sounds as if someone has had backdoor access to change settings.

thanx for ur replies, i think the problem was that the " users awaiting email verification" were put in the banned users list ...

I think when they actually join the forums they go out of that group
