Retrieve Post Thread

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm looking to pull the highest rated thread or just to pull threads based on certain week to put on a main index php page, not part the forum. I would I query it from the sql database of vbulletin. Is there an easy way to do it, and how would you take care of the parsing. I tried using the search function but haven't found anything.
