email from a certian domain can register

Is there a way to set up vbulletin so that only people who have email from a certian domain can register.

This is for a school and we would only like students with school email such as .edu addresses to be able to become members.

Ban all emails from users registering in, Admincp> vBoptions

Hi. thanks for the quick response. We don't want to keep visiting the control panel to see who's registered and who ever doesn't have an edu email address for us to do this manually. We want the forum to only allow the ones we want and if someone tries to register with another type of address for it not to accept it. Everyone will be receiving emails to activate their account but this filter I'm asking about is what would be necessary for us to do what we want. Is there a possible hack and maybe one that exist?

so you only want users to register from a predefined domain? like an edu account or hotmail or whatever?.. and nothing else at all?

There you go, exactly what I'm looking for. You have a possible solution or heard of anything like this?

unfortunately there is no default email "whitelist" options available for vB. your best best is to exclude most domains for which you DO NOT want registrations from and moderate new registrations. unless you want to get into code modifications; but then you'd have to hope someone could help with this. this has been suggested before at vB.com but never implemented.

Ok then two days of code will have to do to make this happen. I'm going to take this one and see how it works out. I can go in the code just not sure how to create a hack. Thanks for your help and quick replys.

no problem; post back and let us know if you get something worked out.

absoloutely and once it works out then we can figure out a hack for this or what files where modified. I'll post back hopefuly by the end of the weekend. Thanks again
