Limit length of post when displayed (to guests only so that they will register)
 

Hi all,

I want to create a teaser for guests to register.

Basically, a registered user will see the full message in each post. However a guest will only see the first 100 characters of the message and this will be followed with "please register to see the full text of this post". The latter could be seen several times within a thread if the posts within are greater than 100 chars in length.

I want to create a hack using the plugin system. Key question is where to add the plugin and what variables should I amend to get the "please register.." text shown.

If someone has already done this or knows where to find such a hack, then I would appreciate your guidance.

This has already be coded m8, do a search, its in the 3.5 section and it works on my 3.6 board :)
