Few Questions

Not 100% sure as to where to post this as many forums here are not accessable to me. I am currently an IPS customer, as of a few days ago IPS announced the new price listings for their lisence, the yearly lisence more than doubled and the perpetual was increased from 185 to 300 USD. Due to this I am in search of other forum software, I came here in hopes that someone can maybe give me some sort of tour into vBulletin forums as I decide on what my best decision on new software is.

Thanks so much.:)

Or you can go to vbulletin.com and ask your pre-sales questions there. ;)

vbf, feel free to swing by my site and see vbulletin and some of the awesome available mod's in action.
In my opinion, vbulletin is hands down one of the best buys for the money, and is fairly user friendly. Support varies though, if you do not do anything to the software at all, and just use the basic vbulletin that come's with the purchase, they will be able to help you at vbulletin.com. Add one mod to your site or plugin, and you are basically on your own, which i find to be a downfall, but it is a good learning experience.
There are alot of talented people here at vbulletin.org, and i would say 90% of the mod's designed and available for free here are awesome and work flawlessly.

Let me know if you have any other q's, i will give you a more then honest opinion.

vbf, I'm sorry you didn't get the response you had hoped for. I think part of it has to do with how you titled the topic. "Few Questions" is not very descriptive. I passed it over because of that. I don't know why I looked at it tonight, except that maybe it was out of boredom. I always felt that any would-be webmaster/forum owner should at least be able to set the example in titling their thread with maximum results in mind.

I haven't followed IPB for a couple of years now and I used to own a license. vBulletin is a far better product, in my opinion, and a good value as well.

R'gards,

Jim

If you are using vB 3.5 or 3.6 then you will be asked to temporary disable the modifications by adding a single line to your config file. Unless you are using modifications that required editing the source files (unlikely on 3.5 or higher) then you would have no problems receiving support.

Ofcourse giving support for a board whith activated modifications is not possible, as the code of the modifications was not written by Jelsoft.

PS Beside a thread title that could have been choosen better, you also should have posted in the Pre-Sales forum and not at vbulletin.org, but at the official vBulletin Support website vbulletin.com. I am sure you would have received a better and faster response.
