Forums and Child Forums

I was wondering if there was a way that in the main forum page when people go to view my forum they will only be able to view the parent forum but not the child forum. The only way i would like them to view the child forum is if they click on the parent forum

In your Admin CP go to vBulletin Options > Forum Listings Display Options and change the "Depth of Sub-Forums" to zero.
