Questions about vBulletin Skins and more

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking to buy forum license for one more site, not sure what should I try, IPB or vBulletin, since I've only ipb experience.

If anyone tried both, which one is easer to skin? 3.6 (vBulletin) or 2.1 (IPB)?

About licenses, after it expires I need to renew to get new version? And I won't get updates after it expires? Any changes they are thinking to do? Since IPB offers all updates, only not support after perpetual license expires.

About seo friendly urls, is there any free tools for vbulletin? Have found only paid ones, vbseo i think and seems it's not so cool as fURL for ipb.

Any anti spam settings for vbulletin? Since I noticed pretty much spam in my newest ipb forum.

Does that skin which was in vbulletin just after 3.6 came out, (not the one which is now as default), is that one free or not?

Smilies. The smilies which I see now is default ones for vbulletin?

vBulletin has a number of methods to stop automated spam, including image verification at registration, and when guests post or use the contect us form. It also has email verification.

Skining vBulletin is pretty straightforward as it has an easy to use template system and style manager for the CSS.

The licence options available are either $85 for a one year leased licence. At the end of the year you will either need to remove the software or renew your licence. Or there is the owned licence at $160 which entitles you to lifetime support and to run the software forever. For access to updates, it is $30 for each additional year, but this is optional.

The smilies used on this site are a custom set created especially for here. You can view the default style and smilies at www.vbulletin.com

If you wish to try out vBulletin first to aid with making your decision, you can apply for an admin demo at www.vbulletin.com/admindemo This is valid for 24 hours and gives access to the complete admin control panel and forums so you can see for yourself how easy it is to manage and even try out using the style manager and template system.

there are 2 new free options for the seo urls, i think one is called vrewrite and the other zoints seo or something like that.

I would recommend you get vbseo from the word go, you wont be disapointed, it is the best seo enhancement around and also has lots of other cool features.

Indeed.

SEF (Search Engine Friendly) URLs however, require a Modification. ;)

As mentioned previously in this thread, 2 (or more) free options, and a Paid one, are available.

BTW We like to refer to them as CRUs, which stands for "Content Relevant URLs". Some refer to them as "Content Rich URLs", or simply "static URLs". :)

Hi, I'm thinking of getting this program for a client to use on her website that I administer and host on my account. If I buy the program outright, am I allowed to install on multiple client sites? Or is a separate license needed for each client's domain?

Thanks
Jeff
