having trouble with the site loading and want opinions.

i have 3.5.4 with what i consider very few hacks or mods done. i have the vbookie, and maybe 15 forums, and my navbar template is somewhat modified, as well as a few other templates.

i have created several dozen extra pages using new templates, but they are extremely basic, header, basically some text and the footer.

every once in while my site is very slow loading, even not loading. the header and navbar will load but that is it, maybe after ten minutes the rest will load.

it only does it once every two months or so.

after pinging it, my server tells me everything is fine and that it is a optimization problem and my site is heavily modified.

its hard to believe that, because one minute the site is loading very fast and the next it is dead. it did that twice today and is doing it now.

how can it be an optimization problem and intermediately slow my site down?

thanks for any replies, or suggestions as to what it may be or what i can do.

If you are on a shared host, it maybe nothign you can do about it.

I find myself in the same boat as of yesterday. I am also using 3.5.4 and a shared server, and may stats show
Quote:

[page compression: 126.06 k/135.36 k (6.87%)]
Page generated in 112.46303 seconds with 32 queries (1 queries for uncached templates) [Server Loads: 2.00 1.49 : 1.30]
Uncached templates: board_inactive_warning (1)
The Page Generation has jumped to the 112.46303 for some unknown reason, I havn't added any new mods or made any other changes that I'm aware of to cause this. I have been disabling mods in hopes to find the problem with no changes.
What tests can I run to find the problem??

sounds like you need to either upgrade your vb version or find another host
