Header/NavBar Mod Question

I'm looking to get a Header/NavBar layout similar to the one used in this forum: GFX-Forums

More specifically I'd like to:
  • Move the login field up into the header next to the logo graphic
  • Seperate the Navbar from the Forum Box (sorry, unsure of proper term)
  • Move the Navbar up under the header logo/login field

As an aside, unrelated to the header question, I'm also interested in how to add another BG element (the white area that surrounds the entire forum in the linked site)

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it'd be nice if their site wasnt hacked.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I feel bad for them. If you stop the page from loading fully then you can halt the hack from showing up.

Is moving the Login/NavBar into the header just a matter of cutting that code out of the NavBar template and pasting it into the Header Template?

UPDATE

So I figured out how to move the Login and NavBar. Now I just need help with adding the BG element (the white area that surrounds the entire forum in the linked site) GFX-Forums

I'm also trying to get the header logo to butt up against the top of the NavBar. Also, how do I design a header logo that will stretch properly when my forum is set to % rather than fixed?

How did you do it? I've been trying since yesterday.
