How do I use the process_logout function?

Hi

On my site I am attempting to integrate the forums with my own login mechanism. I have a logout link which logs the user out of my site, my question is if I call the function process_logout will it log the user out of the forums?

Also what hook is used when the user clicks on the "log out" link within the forums?
