How do I set admin privileges only on one forum?

Hello everybody,

this is my first post on this board, so I apologize if my question is either trivial or noob :D

I have a section in my vB 3.6.0 board, for which I would like to delegate administration privileges to one of the users of my board, without giving him full access to the admin panel. He should be able to edit sub-forums, create new ones, create sub-forums with passwords, give moderator privileges, but all of this should be restricted only to his area.

Is it possible? I explored all the admin panel searching for such an option, but I couldn't find it, so I suppose it's either well hidden :D or impossible and I need an addon to do what I want.

Thanks,
j0t

create a new "admin" group and call it something different - giving all the great permissions you would like. Then allow that group all god-like access to that forum, but no access to other forums. Put the new "admin" group as a secondary usergroup for the person. That should do it.

Which kind of permissions? Admin permissions (admincp/adminpermissions.php) or forum permissions (admincp/forumpermission.php?do=modify). Or other kinds of permission I don't know? I'm quite a newbie with vB so I'm sorry but could you tell me the exact procedure? :D

Thanks a lot,
j0t

in your adminCP - create a new usergroup based off of your original admin group. Then go to the forum permissions and set up the correct level of access for the user.

Admincp --> Usergroups --> Add Usergroup At the top, chose Administrator, click go, then at the bottom, click save.

Then go to admincp --> Forums & Moderators Forum Permissions, then find the forum in question and set the admin permissions for the new group. You will also have to ensure all of the forums have the right permissions as well. e.g. No admin access for your new admin group

There's no "admin permissions" in "admincp --> Forums & Moderators --> Forum Permissions"...

And there's no "admin permissions" in the user editing panel if the user's primary group is not an admin group

D'oh :disappointed:

If you mean admin permissions in the Admin Control Panel, then that's in Users > Administrative Permissions on the bottom of that drop down.

If you arent a Super Admin, then you'll have to set your user ID in the includes/config.php file.

I am super admin, and I know that, however in order to be able to see that menu, the user you're editing must have an admin group set as his MAIN group... And again, in that menu you can't set admin privileges for ONE forum, you set admin privileges for the whole board...
