designer, coders titles

I've noticed some designers and coder tags on users that frankly, I don't see why they have it..

whats the criteria to have a designer or coder tag under your name ?
i don't want to point fingers out, but i see some designer that I haven't seen a style released, and some ppl that have release some nice styles or hacks that don't have titles.. ? or coders that i haven't seen release hacks ??

if they have released styles or hacks, apparently they aren't that great IMO if I haven't noticed them, or my clients haven't seen them.

I don't think they should have this title, it sorta gives a false impression to us and especially the new users here.

what do you guys think ?

To be honest I never take that much notice of the titles. If I see a hack I think is good and well put together. I will keep that persons name in mind because I know he does good work. Titles doesn't influence me at all one bit.

What I always tend to check for now in hacks anyway first after installing is - are they W3C firendly. Anybody can knock a hack together. But putting it together well so it's W3C validate is another story.

While we won't release the specifics the number of hacks and number of installs do play into effect.

It is something like

Designer = 1 template like modification with at least like 10 installs (I have it because I released a crappy spoiler tag a while back.).

Honestly, coder and designer tags are worth crap. Now Advanced and Master titles actually have significance IMO.

ah, okay good to know..

and gary, I have been noticing the w3compliant thing a lot more now too. I didn't use to even check after installing a hack, but as of now my new project has zero errors, and I'm trying to keep it that way :p

Shelley, you need to throw together a Template Modification, you deserve a Designer tag -- at least half of all the releases in the Graphics Sections are from you.

I'm not a Designer because of my title; I am a Designer because of what I can and have accomplished. :)
