speed up showthread
 

I'm trying to speed up my showthread (esp. for long threads).

so I was thinking I'm gunna comment out:

-join date
-rep power
-messenger icons (msn, yahoo etc).

from the postbit.


will that actually help anything?

what are some common showthread postbit killers? eg: I have gifts for vbplaza in the postbit and hoping that doesn't actually slow things down. (I want to keep it which is why I'm looking for other ways to speed things up)

any images in your postbit will slow it down..

btw, those that you mentioned can be removed in vboptions ;)

Removing said items will not reduce any of the query time or processing time.

Gifts for vBplazza will probally be slowing it down depending on how the code is used to fetch each users gifts. If a query has to be run for EVERY user on the page, that could get fairly intensive.

What other modifications do you have?

why not? doesn't vb have to calculate those too? :/ surely rep power at least will help. it even says that in the admincp description.

Removing the item from the postbit doesn't speed it up unless you disable the code that makes it do it.

Disable the champs thing, and try disabling the gifts, see what happens if only for a day.
