You can show the last 10 threads using a bit a javascipt that will grab them from the vbdatabase:

Quote:

<script type="text/javascript" src="external.php?type=js"> </script> <script language="" type="text/javascript">

var name1 = new String();
var title1 = new String();

for (x = 0; x < 10; x++){

name1 = threads[x].poster;
if (name1.length > 13){
name1 = name1.slice(0,9) + "..";
}
title1 = threads[x].title;
if (title1.length > 43){
title1 = title1.slice(0,40) + "..";
}

document.writeln("<img class=\"inlineimg\"src=\"images/buttons/lastpost.gif\" alt=\"A.I. Trading Stock Market Investment Forum\" border=\"0\" /> <a href=\"showthread.php?t="+threads[x].threadid+"\">"+title1+"</a><span class=\"time\">(by "+name1+")</span><br>");}

</script></div></td>
This is what I use on my forum:

How did you split it into two columns like you have in your example .jpg?

Thats just a bit of html (tables td and tr)

the following source code on my forum was added to : Styles and Templates>Stylemanager>Default <<>> Forum Home template> forumhome :

you can add it just under $navbar

Quote:

<!-- show latest active threads -->
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0"

width="100%" align="center"><tbody> <tr> <td class="thead" colspan="2"><a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('forumhome_external')"><img id="collapseimg_forumhome_external" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_thead$vbcollapse[collapseimg_forumhome_external].gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>

<a href="search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=getnew">Latest Created Threads</a></td></tr></tbody> <tbody id="collapseobj_forumhome_external" style="$vbcollapse[collapseobj_forumhome_external]">
<tr>
<td class="alt1" width="50%" height="">
<div class="smallfont">
<script type="text/javascript" src="external.php?type=js"> </script> <script language="" type="text/javascript">

var name1 = new String();
var title1 = new String();

for (x = 0; x < 5; x++){

name1 = threads[x].poster;
if (name1.length > 13){
name1 = name1.slice(0,9) + "..";
}
title1 = threads[x].title;
if (title1.length > 43){
title1 = title1.slice(0,40) + "..";
}

document.writeln("<img class=\"inlineimg\"src=\"$stylevar[imgdir_button]/lastpost.gif\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" /> <a href=\"showthread.php?t="+threads[x].threadid+"\">"+title1+"</a><span class=\"time\">(by "+name1+")</span><br>");}
</script></div></td>

<td class="alt1" width="50%" height="">
<div class="smallfont">
<script type="text/javascript" src="external.php?type=js"> </script> <script language="" type="text/javascript">

name2 = threads[x].poster;
if (name2.length > 13){
name2 = name2.slice(0,9) + "..";
}
title2 = threads[x].title;

How can I have it on a static html page?

mpage 11-23-2006 10:51 AM

just the same, you just need to put the exact loacations for href and src: <a href=\"showthread.php?"> turns into <a href=\"www.mypage/forum/showthread.php?">

and for each style etiher define them in css or replace them explicitly
