I kept wondering where these bogus members where coming from that would sign up one day and post spam the next:

If you turn on image verification and run the latest version, you can screw them over just as well.

You know that posting a site like that will only publicise it...

I don't see any reason for him to keep it to himself. That's like saying never use a swear word incase someone who doesn't know it learns it.

The Forum Genie can sort out the image verification from what i just read...

Some Bulletin Boards require that after you sign up you check your email and click a link before you can post messages. Forum Genie will handle this extra step for you to save you the time and frustration of clicking 100's or thousands of links. It will even delete the email after a sucessfull verification! (pop3 email required)

Looks a good idea if your wanting to increase you posts and members base lol

Missing the point.
People who read this thread will go away with one of 3 impressions:
1. Don't care, already forgot about the site.
2. Wow, bad site. Can't do anything though so... *shrugs*
3. Holy crap, just what I needed, thanks for the link! *goes off to spam*

Posting something like that will do more harm than good overall.

I can completely understand where you're coming from. But there's a thin line between what you mention and censorship. Afterall, that script is not illegal - and has broken no laws, security or piracy related.

thats not a CAPTCHA though, it only can bypass verification emails. which is really easy to do with an inbox reader:) but CAPTCHAs, especially vBulletin's, are hard to break.

Only in the case of 3.6. 3.5 and earlier do not have strong CAPTCHAs.

so this would not work for later versions of vb...perhaps this is the reason they decided to pull it of the market?
