Forum color Schemes.

I've been looking at color schemes for my forum.

is it typical for forums to use a monochromatic scheme? I'm just wandering becasue it seems that no matter what schemes i try, it always seems a little off.

but it could just be me as I've always been 'color sensitive' in designing.
