Help WIth Forum Permissions

I'm going to run a "Big Brother" style competition on my forum. I have made a forum caleld "Dairy Rooms" and inside it are subforums, one Diary Room per contestant. I want to make it so each housemate can only access their own subforum Diary Room and cannot access anyone else's. How would I go about this?

Hello Dunc,

You didnt say whether you wanted them visible on forum or not.

If each room is to be a subforum you can do it this way.
Go to the forum permissions and set the permission of each subforum to 'Deny All' once you have done that go to the members profiles in ACP and allow access through the access masks for each contestant.

Set the sub forum setting - Index New Posts in Search Engine to 'no' (ACP/Forum manager/edit forum)

Good luck with your competition

Thanks, I'd give rep except they don't seem to use the rep system here.

You're welcome Dunc, any problems come back and always test it on yourself first to make sure its what you want.

Will it work if I deny all for the housemates and then sort the access masks but allow normal members to view but not post?

Yes Dunc it should do, its the access masks that are the important point on the individual level.

Give it a try, set yourself up with a test account or two, then when you are ready use 2 different browsers to log in both accounts at the same time (easier than logging in, logging out and logging in again, lol). Adjust the permissions and access masks until you have what you want. This is how i did it when I was setting up hidden councelling rooms, hidden forums, visible with limited access etc.

Thankyou very much for your help =)

Sorry, need more help.

I set permissions to each subforum saying that can't view but can post. I then fiddled with the access masks on my test account so I could see one diary room. However, I still can't post in it. What can I do about this?
