vBPortal and should we be concerned?

Hi peeps

I had an email from vbportal a wee while back with regards to them being hacked, I have just checked and it looks like there site is down again...Hacked again?

Anyway, I was looking into the portal software to work with vB 3.6 when it was released as a GOLD, Should i not bother with VBPortal now due to the issues?
Has anyone else had second thoughts about using the vBPortal? Is anyone using it now with any concerns at all?

I thought vbportal was for vb 3.0.x - did it even get updated for 3.5 ?

I think I've seen it being run on a 3.5.x forum a couple of times. It could have possibly been local ports though.

Must have done, I have had it running on 3.5.4 it little while back :)

There is a lot of information posted at vbulletin.com about their website being hacked. Also solutions are posted over there.

If i have time i will update this post later on with a link to that post.

It runs on 3.5.+ and the 3.6 beta version has been available for weeks now.

As for the exploits, the first was software based, in which I believe was fixed with the help from the vB staff. The second exploit is PHP based; nothing to do with phpPortal (vbPortal) itself. It is an issue that the developers and hosting service need to resolve.

The phpPortal developers and vB staff have been working tirelessly which is always a positive sign. Anyway, while you may already have, get the updates in the Chit Chat thread at vB.com. Click here to the thread.

I just got several emails from the alleged hackers saying that vbportal.org was hacked... and their page definately is defaced.

Looks fine to me (at the time of this post).
