OS Commerce, X-Cart, Zencart, which one?

Just wondering what experience anyone has with any of the myriad of shopping cart solutions out there. I have been researching for a while, but it's difficult to choose. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

I liked OS Commerce when I used it. :)

why did you stop using it?

- OsCommerce and Zencart are free.
- X-Cart will cost you some money.

Oscommerce 2 is not recommended as it's outdated. They are working on 3.0 but that's been going on for the past few years. FYI: I've seen screenshots of the 3.0 interface and it's out of this world - just hoping they finish it soon. From the looks of it ... late 2006 - early 2007.

Zencart is up to date. Unlike Oscommerce 2, they have a template system and source is XHTML/CSS valid.

I worked on X-Cart for a client before and was not impressed. I don't recommend it.

Zencart is the clear choice.

Some good info Princeton, i wasn't aware OScommerce was so behind on development, as well as not being xhtml/css valid. I also thought they had a template system, but I must have been mistaken. If anyone else can weigh in , please do so :)

there are Oscommerce variants on the web that utilize a "template system" ... however, it's nothing like what you might expect

I'm helping a guy to configure an osCommerce install, it's going quite well. If you have some kind of PHP knowledge it's not too hard to design it after your needs.
However we have still to launch it for the public, so not sure how the actual shopping system works out yet.

What I don't like though is that it's not possible to integrate it with your vB user database without writing your own PHP script to do this. At least we haven't found any way to do this as of yet.
