Reinstall default style
 

I've searched the archive for an answer to my question and some of the answers are way over my head.

Somehow I managed to overwrite my default skin with a new one I installed. To get the default back, can I just upload all the original files (except config.php) or do I have to do a complete reinstall from scratch? Will either affect my database?

Any time you want to get a "Default Template" all you have to do is go to the AdminCP -> Style & Templates -> Style Manager

At the bottom of the list of YOUR styles is a "text" button which says [Add New Style]. Click that and then choose "No Parent" for the style and there you have a "Default Style." It's always there and available.

Thanks for your quick reply slappy. I must have made the new style the default because I did exactly as you told me and the new style still comes up. It's like a freakin' virus ... just won't go away!

If you chose "No Parent Style" in the dropdownbox at the top and still got something other than the "Default" style, you would have to have made major deletions.

At vbulletin.com, after such a failure, Steve Machol advised:

Reupload the original vbulletin-style.xml file from the zip file to your install directory. Make sure you upload this in ASCII and overwrite the one on the server. Then import this file in the 'Upload' section of the Style Manager.

Next create a new style and choose no parent style. This will be the original (Default) style.
