How to add site navigation menu in vertical?

I would like to add a navigation menu for my site on the left hand site. I am currently looking to use amykhar's "Put a Column on the Left Side of Every Forum Page" hack/mod.

Here are a couple of examples of what I would like to add menu-wise:

*main menu portion

*site navigation portion

Appreciate any pointers/advice on this. Thanks! :)

Vertical site navigation this should get you started :)

Thanks Peterska :). This is close to what I want to have but I simply want to be able to put my own custom links in the side menu instead of the navbar contents.

Is there any way to do this with your mod? If not, is there any other mod that allows you to create a custom block and place it there? Thanks.

yes, you can use that as a template to use for other sections

Sounds good! Can't wait to get home and start crackin' on it. ;)
A few more q's, if I may.....
  1. Is it relatively easy to remove the login/login status portion of the block?
  2. Can you have multiple blocks? ie: Can I create another one below my nav menu and use it to house banner ads? (or perhaps there is a more suited alternative for that..?)
  3. Can these be managed from the admincp or only by templates?

Thanks again!

  1. Yes you just delete the code for that
  2. Yes, end the table add a break then create the next table
  3. This is managed soley through the template
