Thread subscribing

Does anyone know of a way to have all members subscribed to everything this way anytime there is a post to any thread everyone will recieve an email.

Not a good idea but: If you go into thbe admin cp and scroll down the list to Maintenance and then in tehre you should find: Execute SQL Query and then in the drop down box Automatic Query Find: Instant Email Notification and then run it. It will chnage all users to instant email notification once they post into a thread.

Nick,

I understand that part - but what the users are wanting is to receive e-mails for *all* postings - whether they've posted previously in the thread, and even for subsequent posts after a first e-mail has gone out.

I know, I know... sounds crazy to me - turning vBulleting into a listserver - but the users are never wrong are they?

i have that query... somewhere. just let me find it.

well first of all you'd have to collect the amount of threads and the amount of users and loop it over. It will take a hell of a lot of query's... i think...

Any way someone could just create a mod to automatically do this everytime a user places a post?

rogersnm 07-07-2006 05:52 PM

What do yo umean. Email all the users everytime someone posts? Thats what i am working on!

It's definitely not recommended. How many users does your forum have?

nxl1 07-07-2006 05:56 PM

Less than 100 users (expected to grow some) and no more than 50-100 posts a week (for now)

Wired1 07-07-2006 07:35 PM

sooo... something like 10,000 emails a week? Will your hosting package support that volume?

nxl1 07-07-2006 07:36 PM

We host our own so we won't have to worry about that at all.
