Adding checkbox to new thread without editting templates. Possible?

I want to add a new checkbox to the New Thread creation page, but I'm hoping to do it without having to edit the New Thread template. The partners that will be using this extension would prefer not to edit existing templates, but are fine with adding new templates and plugins. Any thoughts how possible this might be?
