huge doc attachment as a downloadable file?
(And thanks in advance for any help.)
I would like a board member to be able to use the attachment feature to upload two huge (1 MB) word documents that people could then download for themselves, without opening the document (because I'm assuming that otherwise it would eat up tons of bandwidth if people read it as a post - but if I'm wrong there please let me know). Could someone tell me how I would work this? If it were uploaded as an attachment for example, would there be any way for people to save it as a file without opening it first? |
Idea:
You can take the *.doc files and Zip them up before upload. (use winrar, winzip, ect .... ) I just did a test : - 1.97M - test.doc - 560k - test.zip Most people have some type of compression program installed. If not there are is a free trial package @ http://www.winzip.com |
Thanks so much, Zachariah! That's the kind of solution I was looking for. I appreciate your time! :)
