Constructing an external "lostpw" page

Well im trying to implement a lost password page in my CMS that works off vbulletin... I looked at the 'lostpw' part of login.php but its quite complex and I don't think I'd be able to construct it myself from scratch. Is there some sort of datamanager or class I could use?

Any help would be appreciated...

Wouldn't be much easier to simply redirect to the normal lost password function?
