Whats going on

When I click on the title of a sub-forum, it takes me to a separate page with that forum only on there. However, at the bottom, the ‘what’s going on?’ box doesn’t appear. How would I make it appear?

j1mmy 06-14-2006 05:44 PM

bump

Eq4bits 06-14-2006 06:19 PM

not really sure, but I bet you could copy that section of the code from the FORUMHOME template and paste it into the FORUMDISPLAY template and it would work....

j1mmy 06-14-2006 06:34 PM

Yep thats what i think you have to do.

But what do you have to copy?

tgreer 06-14-2006 06:36 PM

Exactly. Go to your AdminCP, Style Manager, Edit Templates, and search for:

<!-- what's going on box -->

copy everything from that to:

<!-- end what's going on box -->

It isn't a separate template, stored in a variable, so you'd have to copy and paste that code segment to where you wanted it. It looks like you want it in FORUMDISPLAY.

I realize it's probably not my place to say, but I think very few users would want that much clutter on that page. Perhaps you only want this for YOU? Then, you could wrap it in a conditional, only running the code for your user id.

When you open FORUMHOME template for editing:
FIND:

</table>

<!-- end what's going on box -->

Use your mouse to hi-lite that section of the code, right click 'copy', then open a txt (notepad/wordpad/etc) editor and paste the code there;
Next Open template FORUMDISPLAY
FIND:
Code:

<!-- / forum search menu -->
</if>

<!-- icon key -->

then hi-lite and copy the code you put in txt editor and paste it AFTER the </if> in the above section of code
OR wherever you want it to show up
in the above case it puts it below the forum display options and above the icon legend
HOWEVER
not all the information (i.e. newest member name etc) isn't showing up when I did this in my test forum, so there must be something else that would need to be done/added.....
(suggest doing it this way incase you have edited it for other mods)

Thanks,

If this is possible, why is vB support telling me it isnt.

Eq4bits, i understand that i have to copy code from the forumhome to the forumdisplay. but whats the second part for?

I do this and let you know how i get on with it.

tgreer 06-14-2006 07:02 PM

Because vb support doesn't support plugins/tempate changes, etc. They send everyone here for that, and if it breaks your forum, it's pretty much your problem.

Eq4bits 06-14-2006 07:05 PM

:D that's why you're supposed to back everything up before you make changes heehee

j1mmy 06-14-2006 07:09 PM

By the way, where about am i supposed to copy the code in the forumdisplay?
