Understanding Permissions
 

Hey guyz,

Just wanted to check that I understand the operation of permissions correctly...

If a primary usergroup permission is set to no, but that same permission in a secondary usergroup is set to yes. will the outcome be yes? or no?

If a user is in 1 primary usergroup, and 3 secondaries:
Does it matter is the primary permission is no, 2 of the secondarys are no, but 1 secondary is yes? will vBulletin treat it as: permission = yes

Sorry if this seems confusing but my permissions are really messy and I thinking of only having 1 baseline permission, rather than setting permissions in all the usergroups, but I gotta see how it reacts to yes and no for the same item...

A yes for a permission in any of the users usergroups overrides any permissions that are no, so if there are yes's and no's regardless of how many of each, the result will always be yes

Assuming 'Allow Users to have Member Groups' is set to yes. :)

Sounds about right, I just wander about and answer questions when I can, and code stuff when I get time, and if it wasn't for the fact that the site isn't a literal physical entity, I'd probably have moved in a long time ago. (Saves paying rent, lol)
