Anyone know how this footnote bbcode is implemented?

Thanks I know how to add a bbcode. What I was hoping for was if someone had implemented this [footnote] bbcode i.e. the replacement and any additional code that would be required.

If you look at the link what it does is every time you use [footer]This is a footnote[/footer] it creates a superscripted numeric in the text at that point and when the post is posted it places that number and the actual footnote text at the bottom of the post. I've found the code that does this for a phpBB board was hoping someone had it for vBulletin 3.5.x.
