Need For This?
 

Hey everyone,

I am working with a friend who happens to be a PHP coder and we are interested in doing some vB mods for 3.5.x. Well, we are interested in finding out what mods people are really looking for, we don't want to release something that no one will ever use or has been created time and time again.

Our original idea was to create a Reviews System that would allow users to create Articles, Tutorials, and Reveiws. Something similar has been seen at vBGeek, but unlike them we would like to release it for free to the public. This is more so to get our name out there and show off some of the skills we have. If you think this is a good idea for a mod or if we are just wasting our time.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on a good vB mod to make, please make them or if you have any request, we will pick out the one that most interest us and work on that for the time being. Thanks everyone for your time!

I voted for do something different. Unless you can put this review system together quickly theres no reason to recode something that is already done and works without errors. Sure it may not be free, but the work is done already, those that would want/need something like this can pay for it just like vbgallery/photopost and some other mods. Although a free version is nice, if it is missing features that vbgeek version has it wont be seen as good and could get people to go from yours to vbgeeks.

id suggest doing something new. im not sure what though I just think the time can be used for something new and exciting instead of repackaging something as your own. ( no offense )

your more liking to get your name out there on something new and different then something recoded, imo.

I see your point, I suppose this idea was mainly because I didn't feel like paying vBGeek for their script, so I figured hey lets make one for people, but if thats how people will view our work on it, then yea I would say I should just make our reviews system as something custom for my forums rather than a mod for the public. Anyway, any suggestions on what people would like to have, let me know!
