Integration of vBulletin with directory software
Hello,
I'm working on a business directory website project that I will be launching soon. After doing quite lots of research on the best directory script available, I decided to go with phpMyDirectory. However the project will have a forum that will act as an e-market, & should integrate flawlessly with the directory. It already has a phpBB integration module, & the devs are saying they would be working on a vB integration but they need to reserach it's API first. Since vB API is only accessible by licensed customers at the moment, the integration development has been halted by PMD devs. Scott said that they're going to move the Bulletin API to a public area of vB.com, which is good, but there's no ETA for it & it even not decided yet. Now I need to speed up the integration process, but I can't really expose my license number/details to anyone to get this done (though I do trust them). Can you help me in determining what is needed to make the integration of these two scripts? I aim at an integration that based the PMD directory, so if someone registered at the directory, a coressponding account with the same username & email is created on the forum. Another important point that the integration must be fully compatible with vBulletin usergroups system. PMD has three level of paid memberships besides one default free user login. I want to make sure that if I created a usergroup for preimum members it will apply the usergroup settings to every account that subscribed with the premuim membership on the directory. My guess is that it's not hard to achieve since both scripts use PHP & MySQL. But I don't know if it should be released as a free or a paid mod? They charge $19.95 for the phpBB module but I see it unresoable at all since phpMyDirectory itself costs $99.99! There're quite lots of integration mods with vBulletin that is free of charge. So, what are the basic elements of doing this integration? Where should I begin looking at the API if needed? Also is there any articles or threads here on vB.org that may help the devs of phpMyDirectory to understand the vB code environment? Sorry for the long post, & thanks in advance for any help. :) |
Maybe someone moves this to a more appropriate forum.

I am also interested in integrating a business directory in my Vbulletin site. Did you get it implemented, simsimt?

The first post is rather old, and no replies were made, so I'd like to find out what happened to this project too,
