username for login is CaSe SeNsItIvE?
 

I was under the impression that user names are not case sensitive.

Yet in one of my licenses it is... how is that possible?

I have tested this both trying to log in, and by changing the first letter of the login name from upper to lower then back.

Both tests were positive to case sensitivity to the user name.

vBulletin is not case sensitive, at least not the username.

Yet in my site you cannot log in if your capitalization is incorrect. Any ideas?

Start by disabling any plugins/modifications.

Then if that doesnt work, start reuploading files from the same version you are running.

It's not the mods.

It has something to do with the character set used for the tables.

What character sets do you have set?

Just in case someone else has the same problem - this has to do with character sets within the DB.

If you change the character set of the DB or table after it was created for some reason stuff freaks out and cannot follow the charset's case-insensitive settings.

Backup all tables.
Make sure 'character set' is not set field by field within exported file.
drop all tables.
import all tables.
