Portal System

Hi guys,

I think I will go and install a portal for my board but I am not sure at all which one to choose.
Maybe this was discussed here a lot of times I have no idea if I should take vBAdvanced or vBPortal.

I took a look at both products but could not really see a difference.

Which experience do you have with those portals and what do you think is the best?

Thanks in advance
jluerken

I have always used vBAdvanced and find it very easy to get it to do what you want.

I've never tried vBPortal, but I am aware of some incompatabilities between vBPortal and other hacks released here.

I have only ever used VbAdvanced, but it is a brilliant product and am sure it will be suitable for your board

Hi

I use MKPortal, it actually has some built in features such as a download section, Top Site (banners), Gallery, and other stuff...

Its always worth a look view it in action here although many blocks are only availble to registered....

You should be able to see the mkportal link at the bottom should you want to
visit there site....

i'm a fan of VBAdvanced and just put it in on my site yesterday as a matter of fact. i was on the fence about which to use as well and my final decision came from the level of support and amount of hacks around here for VBAdvanced.

FYI - there's only the one incompatible hack and that's because the author has choosen to use vbp_ as his table prefix, one which vbportal has used for years and afaik the author is intending to use another prefix in future.

I, like bashy, use MKPortal. I have found it to be very smooth running and has alot of extra built in pages that the others dont, such as, a Blog for your members to start a Blog, it has its own Gallery, Toplist, Quotes system, Reviews system, all these things plus more already built in.

Hope this helps in deciding which portal to use...Be well -

Lady Divus
