I'm actually amazed at your active members in relation to the post count. :)

Nice colours. :)

That's what I had initially thought. My second guess would have been that you've recently pruned your posts/forums. The fact that you've managed to gain that many members in a short amount of time you either have some pull or a good marketing/PR strategy. Whatever you're doing is working.

May I suggest that at some point you can list some tips for members here who are looking for ways to increase their community population. :)

Advertise on other sites (its better if you have other sites of your own running).

And if you have a general community running use myspace to your advantage.

One thing i need to do is give my members a walk through, alot of them are forum virgins (I havent added a nice walkthrough after they register... Its needed.)

Freesteyelz 05-12-2006 05:47 AM

Hehe...Not to put you on the spot or anything. ;) I've just noticed recently there have been many discussions of members asking how to increase their community size. So I'd thought of posting on their behalf. :D Advertising on MySpace is a good strategy for an open community forum. Maybe you can post a new thread in the Tips forum. :)

For mine I pruned more than 2/3 of posts and tons of forums. I've also removed registries. For a gaming clan, however, I think having 2,429 registries (after pruning) is not bad; we've been up since 2000 (forum up since ending of 2001). Most of our registries were from word of mouth. :)

Word of mouth is very good, also another good way would be investing on scripts like these guys:

http://www.fastcreators.com/products.php

I bought 4 of them, and integrated them into VB, so when it emails the contact list it looks like a professional invite. (also uses referal link)
