Can someone port this mod for 3.0.x

I was looking for a mod like this one:

Pity it works only with 3.5.x

Can someone make it work with 3.0.x

I doubt someone will port that one back to 3.0, it relies totally on the plugin system that didn't exist in 3.0.

There might however be something similar already in the current 3.0 hacks.
