About CHMOD permissions
I'm new and having trouble with file permissions.
I know 777 is bad and have been told to use 755 on all executable public html correct? I am just trying to make sure the site it safe. Is there a manual anywhere on this? One last thing... Changing just the version number....not the copyright I have looked in style manager edit templates in the footer but it only says the "copyight vbulletin-do not remove" but doesn't show me the number so I can change it. Is there somewhere else I need to be? Sorry for the newbie questions (how embarrassing:cheeky: Thanks all Lucky |
Why would you want to chnage the version number? As long as you have the copyright line there, you don't have to show the version number line.

I want it to say version 3 not version 3.5.4 |

Then how can I get the version number off like you do here at the bottom? |

You can comment out that line for the version number and just do text to replace it, I suppose. ;) |
Yup.
Remove the version number from the "powered_by_vbulletin" phrase in "Language & Phrases" and Meta tags in your "headerinclude". |
