Is it possible to make PROFILE PHOTO a member's Avatar?
 

I'd like to have a mod (or find an existing mod) that would turn a person's profile photo into their Avatar (no larger than 100 x 100).

Is this possible?

Does the User Profile Photo use a custom profile field? If yes, what is the field #? If no, what are you using to display the photos?

I'll check what the profile photo Field # is, but I haven't changed anything from the default settings...

The default is that you have to view a person's profile to see their photo...I just want it to replace their avatar...

Why not use a avatar as a profile pic and vice versa....ALOT easier that way.

Yup. Since avatars use pre-defined extensions that is a good option. You may also want to check out post #6. I haven't tried it so I don't know if it'll work. If it does, however, you then can set a conditional that will state if profile picture displays then avatar will not. If you need help with that let us know but first see if that plugin works. :)

I too am looking for a 'avatar ='s thumbnail of profile photo' mod. HAs anyone come up with one?

All it needs to be is a small script that uses GD2 to create a thumbnail when a user uploads a new profile pic... that thumbnail is then automatically added to the profile as their avatar.
