ical support

I was asked if I was going to post my work of ical export code of vBulletin events to these forums. (Citation of desire for ical support)

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=180645

I have read requests from people who want to see ical IMPORT support added to vbullein events too, and I plan on working on that later, even though full ical import support is not possible with the present vbulletin events, as ical (rfc2445) support more options that are not available to the latest vbulletin.

I'd like to discuss all of these issues, and ask for feature requests to the export portion of code, while I am working on it, but I can't do that here, or at vbulletin.com because I don't yet have access from the person who bought the vbulletin license to read/post about it here or at vbulletin.com.

I could discuss it here, but if I discuss it in this subforum, I am violating the rules, here. If I discuss it in the chit-chat subforum there, I'll be violating the rules there.

Yeah. I suck. :-/

If you want to see the results of ical export of forum events (as a kind of proof), you can see a flat-file export from the script here:
http://forum.defcon.org/ical/events.ics
https://forum.defcon.org/ical/events.ics

http://forum.defcon.org/ical/conventions.ics
https://forum.defcon.org/ical/conventions.ics

I am still working through security checks and optimization/profiling of code before giving our members direct access to the script from a web browser.

The above files (events.ics and conventions.ics) are dumps made with lynx and a cron job every 5 minutes, to give the illusion of live-export.)

I've been testing this with MS Outlook 2002 on Windows XP, Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird, php iCalendar, korganizer, and evolution. (MS Outlook 2002 requires import with File->import->file->ical/vcal, since double-click on .ics only imports the first event.) Right now I am veryifying that it works with google callendars, and so far, it work as well as most other iCal products tested.

I guess I can write more about this when the license owner gives me access.
