Rep from a PM hack...?

I want users to be able to rep someone from a PM. I was thinking of just putting the postbit rep code into the postbit that shows up in a PM, but I don't know what, if anything, that will break.

Anyone ever do something like this? Is there a better way to pull it off?

It's not quite as simple as that - all reps are linked to a post - there would be no post to link a PM rep with.
