One of my hacks messing up the 'show users viewing forums'

I have quite a few hacks installed. One of them seems to be messing with the 'show users viewing forums' that displays on forumdisplay.

Until last week I had 3 protected forums - protected with password, forum permissions and access masks. For some reason, every member that was performing a search was being shown as browsing one of these protected forums.

Then I created another protected forum for testing purposes - and the problem "migrated" to this forum - now the members who are searching appear to be browsing this new forum.

I only have 2 threads in this new test forum, and I have verified with the 'Show Users Browsing Threads' option that there is actually nobody there besides me, so the information in the 'show users viewing forums' box is definitevely false.

My question is where should I start looking for problems? A hook name might help to narrow the search down to a few plugins. Maybe somebody else has experienced a similar problem. Any help is much appreciated.
