Automating: If Then Conditions with Custom Fields and Group Memberships

I have an awesome idea! This is what I want, but I don't know how to do it. It seems like an easy thing to do.

I have created some custom field questions at registration - particularly question 19 in a drop down box is in focus here, http://biblocality.com/forums/register.php

What I want to do is based on the answers they gave in the drop down box (question 19) at registration or in Edit Profile, this causes them to automatically apply to a particular user group in Group Memberships.

Right now, though, they manually have to apply to a group after registration by going to User CP ("Group Memberships"), but the problem is they might not realize they have to do this; so, if it is automated, it leaves the guessing out of the equation and makes everything streamlined.

I am using weclome headers with this too so it helps to make things plain to understand: giving the person instructions as soon as they are approved for a group about what to do next.

Lastly, there are some IF THEN conditions I would like to add to this scenario for the welcome headers. After a person joins a group (and approved) I would like to create additional welcome headers that are based on the IF condition being fulfilled, namely once they entered a meeting place on the vBgoogle map, chose their preferred identification (under "Group Memberships") and chose an Avatar (unique avatars that describe their status).

What are the IF condition phrase that has to be met for these particulars?

This is being discussed, more or less, in this thread: 3.0.7 DB query code not working in 3.5.4 - vBulletin.org Forum

You'd have to deal with changing the code for your situation, but it's a start.

Thanks. I'll go check it out.
