Why don't vBulletin hackers use Rentacoder?

I recently found out about this service and have had a few things completed through it. I don't understand why more vBulletin hackers don't use this service. I tried to search for people with vBulletin experience and only 12 came up. Compared to putting requests in at vbulletin.org, I see it as a much safer way to do online business. It's mediated and there are measures taken to protect both the buyer and coder.

I just wish there were more coders at that site who are familiar with vBulletin because my to-do list is long but I'm not going to trust anyone enough to pay them half up front through paypal and without mediation.

Too much effort for the small amount of private work I do. :)

I post my bid requests on there and get some decent bids, but usually the work wanting to be done is over my head.

I've decided to sign up there now, now I think about it.

Maybe because they take 15% for projects under $500 or whatnot.

They do ?? I shall never use them then.

Seeing as how the coder most responsible for the final price, I don't see how a cut like that is a problem.. and yes, I am aware that it's a pretty big cut.

Either the coder has to take a lower salary or the employer has to increase the pay - either ways, somebody loses.
The only thing gained is security, which can be important enough in its own, but IMO unless its a major project the tradeoff is not good.

I recently signed up for getacoder.com as well.. getting a much quicker rate of response there and the service seems more reliable.

I'm with the OP - however, I prefer eLance (I think they only take 10%).

I've posted several vBulletin projects with no luck there.

My todo list is long, too. Finding a good, reliable coder familiar with vBulletin is like finding a needle in a haystack.

There are a few good ones out there, but they are few and far between.
