Can you mix and match front end servers?
 
I have a server we just use as a backup server to our main windows server. It really just sits there. My present front end server is Linux. Does anyone see a problem with having 1 linux and 1 windows front end server load balanced?

don't think there is much issues but i have no practical experience with such heh

i think this is where dedicated hardware load balancers help ?

Can't see why you can't do that but I prefer consistency across platforms for ease of administration.
