Display age

I'm admin at a doberman forum and want people to be able to put in their dog's age and have it display in the postbits but I need it to update so if someone put's in year 2004 & month 02 I want it to return the value of Dogs age: 2 years 1 month but next month it would say 2 months or next year it would say 3 years, if that make sense :)

Any help on this would be appreciated
