phpfox

PHPFox = myspace clone...

Anyone or vbulletin.org got ideas on this as an upcoming project?

VaaKo 03-19-2006 10:54 AM

as I can see it's way better than myspace
it's cleaner and much less confusing

I think the project is done, it's out for 300$ (deserves every penny)
im gonna buy it

Same here... I think its worth it as well. :)

Does the license include any software updates? By reading the page it appears it doesn't and that you have to buy access to software updates.

Im confused... It looks like 1 key feature is its forum, but their forum is vB?
Does it integrate with vB? Theirs doesnt?
TIA

I finally got my reply from them regarding software updates:

Quote:

Hello Martin,

We apologize for the recent misunderstanding.

There is no updates included if you purchase the license, since it is an Extras, which if you try to order the Owned License it will direct you to the questions if you would like to purchase any of our Extras.

Concerning the list of MySQL [they list MySQL 3.3.0(???) as minimum], I will get in contact with the maindeveloper and also the webdesigner who stands for these infos. Thank you for your observance and we are sorry for the stated misguidance.

Regarding the vBulleting integration, yes it is very much possible to integrate it smoothly into our software, we have had many clients integrating phpBB/vBulletin into our software.

Thank you for your time and please feel free to get back to us with any concerns.

Have a nice day,
Anna
So I guess if the version you buy for $300 is buggy you have to pay $50 more dollars to update it, or just live with the bugs. Pity, because this seemed like a nice piece of software.
Also, I saw a lot of discussion on their forums about vBulletin integration, but nothing confirmed or released.

I browsed about and could have sworn it was only about $40 - but to be honest, it was a bit of a nightmare navigating around to get the info I wanted and Im not overly big on the look and feel.

Saying that, I think that is the type of direction vB should be moving toward. There, the forums are secondary and the user experience primary. Since vB has the forum side pretty darn near licked, I would think (and hope) that many of the other 'features' it offers could be investigated as official jelsoft extensions.

The "Starting at $39.95" is kind of misleading because that's a monthly lease price.

There is supposedly a user bridge, but not much else that I can tell.

I really like the program, but I'm not a huge fan of their license structure.

It appears that at least they got rid of the non-existent MySQL version in their requirements.
