Cross-Listed Forums?
Ok, I'll try to explain this the best I can.
I know that you can create a Forum listed in one category and force it to direct anyone who clicks on the forum to go wherever you want them to - but we can't do that. We can't have the same content with two different URL's - our head coder say's thats a problem with Search Engines - so... Is is possible to create ONE forum and list it under two different categories, but use the same URL? I asked this same question on vb.com and was told that there might be a hack/mod for it. We're in the process of upgrading to 3.5 - if that matters. Any help or tips would be really great :) Thanks! Brandy |
It shouldn't be too difficult to create, but AFAIK it doesn't exist yet.

Well Marco, thanks for answering at least...even if it isn't the answer I wanted :p
Well, with over 100K members and 600 forums, I really need this...as it is, people complain ALL THE FREAKIN TIME! Again, thanks ;) |
Ok, more about "Forum Linking".
I'm still thinking about this option - but the one draw back I'm having and I can't seem to resolve is this. If I create a forum and link it to another forum - the forum I have created will always say it has zero post/views and the section about last post will be blank. Is there a way to address this issue? If I can address this, I think I'd just use the forum linking option and see how it goes. Can someone, anyone, please tell me if there is a way to have the most recent post data show up on the newly created and linked forum, or will it always be nada? Thanks! Brandy |
